About Me

I am a biologist and a computer programmer. I am just turning 60, overweight by 70 pounds (it used to be by 90 pounds), and am managing blood pressure, cholesterol and A1C numbers with medication. [Update: after 6 months on a ketogenic diet, I no longer take meds related to A1C or blood sugar matters; also no longer taking cholesterol meds]

I am an ardent student of health concerns related to my own health. As a scientist, I will always adhere to the fundamentals.

This Is What Science Is

  • there is a Scientific Method
  • be skeptical of everything
  • there is great value in this kind of research
  • [trying to double-indent this] carefully controlled studies
  • that are falsifiable,
  • and peer-reviewed,
  • whose results have been confirmed by similar research.
  • Other studies, population studies, and field studies can have value
  • No competent and honest scientist will ever claim “the science is settled” about much of anything past math, dynamics, and the periodic table. Anyone saying such is probably dirty, probably bought and paid for by corporate, government, or partisan players; and might be stupid.

I say all that because in the context of health, nutrition, and medicine,

And as it turns out, I am not the only one suffering from obesity-related health issues.  It is the slow-motion epidemic of the modern world. I have only my BS in Zoology for credentials, but you can decide if I provide any real-world value to you.
